This official app from the Royal Collection is designed specifically for spectators of one of the world’s most famous ceremonies - Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace. This spectacular display of pageantry, reflecting customs and traditions which have remained largely unchanged for many centuries, is also a formal handover of responsibility, accompanied by a Band or Corps of Drums, and delights the crowds who watch all year round.

This high-resolution app will provide all the information needed to get the most out of watching the ceremony, including a special video introduction, a timetable of events and a handy guide to help spot the different regiments. There is also an interactive map which overlays the Guards’ route and shows your location relative to the main points of interest concerning the ceremony, including Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, Wellington Barracks and the Guards Museum.

It is packed with exclusive behind-the-scenes videos showing how the guardsmen are real-life soldiers who go to extreme lengths to prepare for the ceremony as well as how they relax after it. An interview with a bandsman also reveals his duties on the day.

For families, the Kids Zone is the ideal way for younger visitors to find out some fascinating facts while they wait for the ceremony to begin, for example why the Guards’ tunics are red or why the Guards are trained not to smile.

This app has been produced by Antenna International and the Royal Collection. The Royal Collection Trust manages the public opening of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen, and is also responsible for the Royal Collection, one of the world’s greatest art collections, held in trust by The Queen for her successors and the nation.
