Lean Body Mass Calculator calculates a person's lean body mass based on height, weight, and gender. Lean body mass measures the mass of the human body if it contained no fat. This app estimates lean body mass using two formulae developed independently by Dr. W.P.T. James and Dr. R. Hume. Estimates of lean body mass are important to determine the proper dosage of certain drugs. Lean body mass should not be confused with ideal body weight or BMI (Body Mass Index). Fat is necessary for physical health, and both BMI and ideal body weight are suitable for determining how much fat is healthy. Do not use lean body mass as a measure of ideal body weight! This app was developed for physicians and other healthcare providers who often need to calculate the lean body mass of their patients.
