The easiest way to look at your brain's electrical activity with NeuroSky MindWave Mobile headband. Includes raw EEG signal, brain activity score with audio biofeedback and brainwave bands. Neurosky Mindwave Mobile HEADBAND IS REQUIRED to use this app. I built this app for my own quantified self (QS) brain research and people asked me to publish it, so here's the app. It was tested with iPhone 4 iOS 5.1 and 6.1. HOW THIS APP IS DIFFERENT: * Graphs the Raw EEG / EMG waveform * INSTANTLY RESPONSIVE to your face movements, proving that the graph is not random * Brain Activity Score provides a metric of how active your brain is during different tasks * SERVER MODE to graph up to 10 users side by side * HISTOGRAM plots history of brainwave activity over time * AUDIO BIOFEEDBACK helps you hear your brain activity - no need to stare at the screen * NeuroSky provided EEG bands , including proprietary Attention and Meditation Bands * Blink Logger plots your blinks over 90-360 seconds LIVE RAW EEG DISPLAY I've never seen my brainwaves due to high cost of medical grade screenings and equipment. With this app and NeuroSky MindWave Mobile headband, I was finally able to see a Live graph of my brainwaves. This offers a lot of opportunity for quantified self experimentation. I already notice that the headband picks up my eye movements, blinks, swallows, neck movement, chewing, as well as cognitive changes when I get engaged in a conversation. UNWIRE! Unlike traditional EEG nets, the single sensor headband snugly fits to one's head, allowing you to move around, interacting with the world while seeing and hearing how your brain responds to activity. BRAIN ACTIVITY SCORE I've created a special way to score the raw EEG signal that I think is more indicative of what's going on within the brain. Simply look at the level of the cyan line on the live graph. The higher the line, more active your brain is. The line also responds to facial muscle movement (EMG) - try smiling and you will see the line go up. HEAR YOUR BRAIN with BIOFEEDBACK! With audio biofeedback, you can hear how the intensity of the raw signal responds to your actions. This means that you no longer have to look at the device screen all the time. You can engage in natural activity: conversations, read or watch TV and have the app play sound indicating the level of your brain activity in the background. Low pitch indicates relaxed brain activity, while high pitched tone indicates more. Don't want the sound? Use the volume buttons on the device to mute it. 90 - 360 SECOND HISTORY The app keeps track of the history of your activity and displays changes, along with your blinks on a live graph. iPad has more screen space, allowing you to see more and in higher resolution than iPhone.. This is useful for experiments where you want to see how the brain changes once you change activity. BRAINWAVE BANDS DISPLAY. NeuroSky MindWave Mobile attempts to quantify your own brainwaves into different bands (alpha, beta, gamma, etc) and the app displays these bands with a colorful bar graph. The color and height of each bar changes with activity from the green (lowest) to pink (highest). attention and meditation provide another way to look at your brain for quantified self experiments EEG BANDS HISTOGRAM The new green-colored widget helps you identify if any particular brainwave band is more strongly expressed than others. You will see a black bar through 60Hz, demonstrating that the analysis is correct (60Hz is filtered by the headband) LIMITATIONS ElectroEncephaloGraphy is very quick to respond to changes in electrical signals, but has trouble understanding where the signals come from. For example, with the NeuroSky MindWave Mobile headband, your brainwaves are mixed with signals used to control your muscles.
